Protecting our quality of life in Fort Collins
City Council must be responsive to citizen concerns over housing developments changing our neighborhood character.
Fort Collins is a great place to live. Let’s keep it that way. The citizens of Fort Collins have twice collected signatures to stop unacceptable changes to the land use code by the City Council.
Steve participated in the City’s Housing Summit where they put a happy face on their efforts to address housing unaffordability.
The City is not achieving its goals of making housing in Fort Collins more affordable and is risking our quality of life on misguided efforts to increase housing density.
We need an experienced advocate for citizen concerns
The first job of a city council member is to ask relevant questions of staff concerning the why’s and where for’s and consequences, intended and unintended, of any measure put before council. That these questions help address the concerns of our constituents is crucial. Steve has experience on government boards asking these kinds of questions having served on the Fort Collins Electric Board and the Larimer County Board of Health.
The Mental Health crisis in America is real. Steve’s own family has been affected by it. Anxiety, depression and other issues are real and can be very debilitating. Passing the county tax initiative to support Summit Stone Health Partners was a great step toward helping those in need.

Do we want Fort Collins to be known for great natural areas, parks, and thriving communities, or urban sprawl and unbearable traffic.
